The Arab Tribune

Sen. Clay Scofield, R-Arab, has been appointed to the Alabama Senate’s powerful Confirmations Committee, which deals with nominations and appointments by the governor.

Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh and Senate Majority Leader Jabo Waggoner said Scofield will be a valuable addition to this committee, which has broad influence over many aspects of state
government.  “In just three years in the Legislature, Sen. Scofield has emerged as a leader who’s
committed to working hard, tackling t o u g h issues and always striving to best represent the people
of his district,” Marsh said. “He is well respected by his colleagues and has vast working knowledge of
state government, which will make him a valuable addition to the Confirmations Committee.”

Waggoner, chairman of the committee, welcomed Scofield. “Sen. Scofield’s appointment to the Confirmations Committee bodes well not only for his district, but for all Alabamians, as this committee is important to the governance of a variety of state boards and commissions,” he said. “He has been a champion for conservative, responsible solutions that help make Alabama a better place to call home and I know the confirmations process will be well served by his insight.”

Scofield said he appreciates the confidence his colleagues in the Senate have placed in him. “I consider it a tremendous honor to serve on the Confirmations Committee and I’ll continue working every day to best represent the people of District 9 and citizens of Alabama,” he said. “The confirmations process is vital to virtually all aspects of state government, and I’m proud to have this opportunity to continue promoting conservative, fiscally-responsible principles on this committee.”
