Long Appointed to Joint State Parks Committee
In the final days before his term ended, Governor Bob Riley appointed Rep. Wes Long (R), Guntersville to the Joint Legislative Committee on State Parks. In his letter appointing Long to the post, Governor Riley stated, “As one of my appointees, you will be making important decisions that directly affect the citizens of Alabama.”
Long says he is very happy with the appointment.“This is one area where I really wanted to work,” he said, emphasizing that “three state parks lie within my district.” Long says he realizes how important Lake Guntersville State Park, Cathedral Caverns, and Bucks Pocket are to our citizens, and what a rare jewel the entire park system is.
“We are blessed with beautiful natural resources and some outstanding facilities”, he said.“My being on the State Parks Committee, along with Senator Scofield serving as Chairman of the Senate Tourism and Marketing Committee, should give our legislative delegation ample opportunities to promote tourism and to continue building on the important economic impact it has, not only on our county but our state as well.”
His term of service begins immediately and will expire in November 2014.For More Information Contact: (256) 582-0619
