Members of the Arab Chamber of Commerce met with Senate Majority Leader Clay Scofield and Representative Wes Kitchens to discuss the past legislative session, what to look for in the next session and goals they have for Marshall County and the State.
Dr. Joe and Mrs. Susan Nolen Story have committed funding to Snead State Community college to honor the impact Snead has had on their lives and the lives of their families. Senator Scofield was proud to be a part of the announcement and thanked them for their support of Snead State Community College.
Majority Leader Clay Scofield and Dr. Joe Whitmore were delighted to host Governor Kay Ivey and Chancellor Jimmy Baker to unveil plans for a Career and Technical Training Center in Marshall County that will be a part of Snead State Community College.

Senator Clay Scofield and Representative Wes Kitchens toured Arab Primary School Pre-K and Brindley Mountain Pre-K programs on Tuesday, November 30th. "Access to quality Pre-K is a top priority," said Kitchens. This tour included representatives from Arab City Schools and Marshall County Schools along with members of the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education to discuss many issues including ways to continue the expansion of Alabama's nationally recognized First Class Pre-K program. A tour, organized by Senator Clay Scofield, brought leaders from ADECA and AIDT to Marshall County to tour Educational areas and workforce training plans in August.
Senator Scofield was honored to participate in the opening ceremony for the 2020 Boaz Harvest Festival. In addition to that honor, Sen. Scofield was able to honor his long time friend, Beecher Hyde. Congratulations Beecher on a well deserved award!
Senator Scofied and Representative Kitchens presented Guntersville Mayor Leigh Dollar a check for $10,000 at the Lake Guntersville Chamber of Commerce's State of the City breakfast on January 23, 2019. This check is to assist the Guntersville Fire Department with dive gear purchases used in search and rescue efforts.
The Arab Chamber of Commerce held their annual Legislative Breakfast on February 6th at the Old Greenhouse in Arab, AL. Senator Scofield, Representative Kitchens, and Representative Shedd were in attendance and spoke with the crowd of Chamber members, business leaders and elected officials. Congratulations and well done to new Arab Chamber President Brooke Hemphill on her first event.
